This quintessence of dust

What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how

infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and

admirable . . . . and yet,to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

TRIBUTES FOR TRANSGRESSIVE ZEUS

the Origional Bad Boy

Antonio Sabato, Jr.
Zeus endowed Antonio with a a classic body,
and an urge to be a movie star, . . .

. . . but, Alas!, Zeus failed to give him the ability to act.
Antonio starred in several movies, including the
simple and attractive Princess of Mars
and the unspeakable

Other images of Antonio:

Joseph Angelo D'Allesandro, III
"Exiled in us we arouse the soft,
Unclenched, armless, silk and rough love that breaks all rocks."
Dylan Thomas, There was a Savior

Joe is not a tribute.  His insouciant, transgressive, open, accepting way would make him welcomed on Olympus by all the immortals, even those who might be jealous of him.

Joe -- in the last image he hid his his penis on command -- and Kenneth Rexroth and Allan Ginsberg and many a brave other awoke a nation asleep under Eisenhower-Nixonion narcolepsy.

And after Joe and the Berkley Free Speech movement, and the Rejection of Vietnam, and the Kent State killing, and Wounded Knee and the bra burning and the draft card burnings; after the clenched nuclear family's hold on us was set free, after sex became open and free and astonishingly visible on the Web,  when we can say what we wish when we wish it-- in short, after the United States obtained some degree of cultural freedom -- after centuries of Roman Catholic, Calvinist, and Victorian religious and governmental repression, the ridiculous loin cloth ubiquitous for men's genitals but not for women's. . .

Even, or especially, the kids are getting into the act.

. . . and Leonardo da Vinci's wise counsel has finally been  acknowledged:

['The phallus] confers with the human intelligence and sometimes has intelligence of itself, and although the will of the man desires to stimulate it it remains obstinate and takes his own course, and moving sometimes of itself without license or thought by the man, whether he be sleeping or waking, it does what it desires; and often the man is asleep and it is awake, and many times the man is awake and it is asleep; many times the man wishes it to practice and it does not wish it; many times it wishes and the man forbids it.
It seems therefore that this creature often has a life and intelligence separate from the man, and it would appear that the man is in the wrong in being ashamed to give it a name or exhibit it, seeking rather constantly to cover and conceal what he ought to adorn and display with ceremony as a ministrant.
Quoted in Leonardo da Vinci by Sherwin B. Nuland [
Emphasis added]

My sentiments exactly.
It has taken only 500 years for the West
to agree with the wise Leonardo.

. . . it is a time for rejoicing, though the battle for economic freedom has yet to be won or even to be seriously joined.

[If you've never ween Joe in Andy Warhol's Dracula
you've missed a funny, sad precise geometry of need --
moving, entrancing, the best yet created.]

Castor and Pollux
Castor and Pollux, brothers and gods, are patrons of sailors and athletes. They help those who face a crisis and are in need, aiding only those who trust and honor them. The brothers are also the the effulgent Vedic brother-horsemen, the Ashvins; the Lithuanian Ašvieniai; and the Germanic Alcis.
